Objectives:
- Develop concrete skills to promote healthy expressions of power in nurse practice settings
- Create opportunity for facilitated dialogue about workplace dynamics in healthcare
- Increase knowledge about helpful vs. unhelpful ways nurses influence the management, administration and delivery of healthcare
- Increase ability to manage daily stress and critical conversations involved in providing high quality nursing care.
Accept your power and support others in finding theirs.

Description:
Learn to direct the energy of conflict instead of being controlled by it.
In this interactive and innovative program, we will use principles and techniques from Aikido, the Japanese art of reconciliation, and immerse ourselves in the educational experience. We will meet in a traditional Aikido "dojo" (place of practice), learn how to blend with an attack -- both physically and verbally -- and practice applying what we learn to everyday conflict.
Objectives::
- Examine beliefs about conflict that hold you back.
- Appreciate the relationship between your physical reactions to attack and the way you react to conflict in daily life.
- Choose to remain calm and increase options.
- Acknowledge emotional energy and direct it in positive ways.
- Develop skills to communicate more effectively under pressure.
Wear sweats or other comfortable clothing. You will have the opportunity to experience physical Aikido if you choose. Learn more here.
